Queer Party
Purple Pandan is hosting a queer party at the museum café. She blends different genres in her sets, creating a lively mix on the dance floor. Her soulful voice adds that extra burst of energy to her live performances. Expect funky disco and groovy house with a tropical twist!
Some cultures, such as those in Polynesia and parts of Southeast Asia, are more open towards transgender people than others. For example, terms such as fa’afafine and kathoey are used to refer to them. Transgender behaviour is neither encouraged nor rejected, but accepted because it is an unchangeable aspect of a person’s identity. At the Wereldmuseum in Leiden, internationally renowned artist Yuki Kihara uses Paradise Camp and Darwin Drag to explore colonial power structures and Western ideas about gender and identity. Through humour, performance and photography, she brings an indigenous queer perspective to life.
Purple Pandan is joining this exhibition to celebrate gender diversity and inclusivity!
