Piss Soap
Jan Steen’s painting De Piskijker depicts an age-old medical
practice. The doctor could tell what was wrong by looking at
the urine. But urine is not only useful for medical diagnoses;
it can also be used to make soap. For his project Piss Soap,
artist Arthur Guilleminot makes soap bars from human urine,
wood ash, and used cooking oil. With this, he asks you to
think about our throwaway society and how we perceive
disgust in our Western culture. In exchange for your urine,
you get to take home a ready-made soap bar.
A jar to collect your urine will be provided.
